Reclaimed Headboard Coat Rack

While walking home one night I came across an ugly old caramel colored headboard siting on the side of the street as garbage.  It had some nice details to I thought I would haul it home and make it into a coat rack.  I figured if I strip off the bad finish and it was still ugly I would paint it.  To my surprise it was cheery veneer over a maple core with the border wood being solid cheery. Once I cut it down to size on my table saw I finished  stripping it.  When I was finished was beautiful.  Next I got some old door knobs and put 5/16 ths dowels into them using Gorilla glue on the inside of the knobs to keep the dowel from moving inside the knobs. Once all the holes were drilled for the dowels in the head board i did all my finishing sanding and then applied a coat of danish oil.  It was a welcomed Christmas present to an old friend.
